Biography

Hanne grew up in Europe and has travelled the world extensively in the course of her 40 years. The impression of these journeys provides inspiration for her paintings.

Hanne uses mostly acrylics as her medium and enjoys to reuse paper, fabric or found objects in her work. Hanne paints on canvas, paper, steel milkjugs, and walls. Hanne's love of nature is evident in her art, she paints seascapes, floral images, the human figure, and cats. However, geometric shapes often inspires Hanne to contemporary works. Hanne started her career as a child, her first paying job was sewing cross stich for display in a craft store. Later she was commisioned to draw, then moved on to painting with oils and acrylics, to web and graphic design.

She has exhibited and sold paintings at many different types of venues in Denmark, England and Canada.

Hanne has been a life and portrait model herself, both for drawing and photography, this gave an important insight into the models job, as well as new inspiration in viewing the human form, lighting, and watching other artists work. This interest in the human body has also led to studying life drawing in the UK. Hanne established and ran an art group in the UK for adults with learning disabilities, painted wall boards in Ymca Lancaster, wall murals in private homes, as well as having illustrated two children's books. Hanne has worked several years as a care person in nursing and private homes.
